I know it is my own fault again for reading The Sun,(it was 15p and I only had 20 minutes of my luch hour left to kill - she said justifying her lust for tabloid journalism) but I can't believe what my eyes saw in the paper today.
They have an agony aunt called Katie Coutts. Ms. Coutts in not any old agony aunt, oh no, Katie is a psychic agony aunt. The star letter that she dealt with was the tragic plea from a young mum who is having problems with her 10 year old son. He is very angry and always in trouble at school, or upset about his life and crying in his room. The mother has taken him to the doctor for help but got nowhere...can Katie and her psychic powers help?
Well of course she can. I wish I still had her reply so you could see it word for word, but I threw the paper out and it isn't online, so here is what I remember...
Katie thanked the mother for her letter and the photographs of the boy that were sent. She looked at the photographs and from what she saw in the boy's eyes was able to diagnose that he was bi-polar. Definitely bi-polar and if the doctor doesn't agree then the doctor is wrong because psychic power beats a medical degree in her bizarre game of scissors/paper/stone. Not only did she diagnose a serious mental illness in the child, she also announced that the boy was obviously adopted and did they realise that his real father had comitted suicide?
There was no beating about the bush with this one. No suggestion that there may be a margin of error in her findings. I realise I'm basically a sceptic, but I say let people feel comfort where they can find it. However, no other agony aunt would condem a child they haven't met to an illness this devastating with such strong words. Outrageously irresponsible journalism from all involved!
It's a good job it was probably made up.

Hi there, that is absolutely SHOCKING! I am a trainee medium with the Spiritualist Church and I can tell you that this is NOT the sort of thing we are taught. I will be reporting her so if she is a member of the SNU hopefully something will be done. A word though, if you are going to go to a medium- head along to a local spiritualist church to see their platform medium at work. It only costs whatever you chose to donate and if you don't get a message and want a private reading, ask there if they have any slots. All the SNU mediums are accredited and go through really rigourous testing I promise.
I am just horrified.
